cbs news and g.f.k.'s knowledge panel recruited a scientific sample of about 500 of them to watch the debate tonight. we will be able to tell you from our instant polling what the candidates did and how well they did tonight. anthony mason is in the broadcast center with the results of the instant poll. anthony, what did you find out? >> scott, the uncommitted voters in our survey immediately after the debate was over gave a clear victory to president obama this evening. we asked those voters who won the debate. 53% said the president did. 23% saw governor romney as the winner. about a quarter, 24%, saw it as a tie. when we asked folks which candidate can be trusted to handle an international crisis, both candidates saw their numbers jump from before the debate. going in 46% said governor romney could be trusted, after the debate 49%. so he went up a little bit. but president obama went up much more substantially from 58% before the debate to 71% after. we also asked which candidate would do a better job
